“Marrambidya Yindyamarra” – Walking Together in Respect

(Inspired by Wiradjuri culture and community)

This artwork represents the many journeys we take through life and the connections we share with family, community, and Country. The flowing arch shapes symbolise people coming together, each carrying their own stories, experiences, and knowledge while remaining connected through culture and kinship.

The soft pinks, purples, and blues reflect healing, compassion, strength, and unity. The repeated forms illustrate generations standing side by side, supporting one another and walking together with Yindyamarra—the Wiradjuri value of respect, kindness, honour, and gentle living.

The dotted pathways represent the lessons, memories, and cultural knowledge passed from Elders to younger generations. Though each path is unique, all are woven together through a shared connection to Ngurambang (Country) and community.

This painting celebrates the beauty of belonging, reminding us that we are strongest when we walk together, care for one another, and honour the wisdom of those who came before us.

Wiradjuri Words:

  • Marrambidya – Together, united, as one people.
  • Yindyamarra – Respect, honour, gentleness, and living well.
  • Ngurambang – Country, homeland, place of belonging.
